11 Standout Tips for Trade Show Vendors

How do you make your trade show booth and your company stand out in a sea of competitors? Hayley Irwin, content creator for The Marketing Zen Group and The Trade Group, offers tips in 11 Ways to Improve Your Trade Show Experience. Some are helpful reminders about the basics, like putting your logo on everything, and others may inspire you to step up your trade show presence in new ways.

All 11 tips are worth reading. Here are just some of the ways Irwin recommends to better your trade show experience:

  • Send your best team members. Irwin reminds us that face-to-face is still the most effective way to interact with potential customers. It makes sense to send the most knowledgeable, articulate and personable staff members to represent your company.
  • Have fun. After a barrage of sales pitches and spiels, trade show attendees start to burn out. So why not be the fun booth? Games, prizes, and photo booths facilitate interaction between team members and potential clients. Use social media to encourage people to sign up for activities. People will remember your booth, too.
  • Talk to your neighbors. You obviously can’t speak with every attendee at the trade show. Strike up a conversation with the vendors in booths nearby who probably spoke with people you didn’t, and vice versa. Trade leads with them. Some will overlap, but each of you could pick up new ones.
  • Don’t lose money at the trade show. Simple, but valuable advice: make appointments in the weeks before the trade show to assess how much business you can do there. Create a budget and stay within it. Avoid over-spending on promotional giveaways. In short, don’t commit to an event that may not be worth your time and money.
