4 Examples of Great Sponsorships

Two of the most common sponsorships sold by trade show planners are logos on event signage and branded promotional materials. Unfortunately, these methods are losing their spark. A Global Experience Specialists survey revealed that 29 percent of exhibitors are looking for unique sponsorship opportunities. Elizabeth Johnson of Trade Show News Network shares four creative ideas that increase sponsors’ ROI.

  1. Showcase a Product. Demonstrate the value of a company by integrating their actual product into the event. Blabfeed, a technology integration company, debuted their rapid phone charging stations by letting attendees use them throughout the event space. They also placed display toppers above the venue’s ATMs that played interactive content.
  2. Host a Headliner. Sponsoring an event headliner gives you the opportunity to align your company with a well-known figure. Rapid Response Marketing hosted former Major League Baseball player Darryl Strawberry at the ISC East security conference in New York. The sponsorship was meant to affiliate the company with a New York icon while creating a memorable experience for attendees.
  3. Branded WiFi Access. Reliable free WiFi is extremely important to tradeshow attendees. Blabfeed’s recently sponsored network was renamed “blabfeed” and used their slogan, “getonboard,” as the password. They also created a lock gate that encouraged users to submit their emails and connect with the company on social media.
  4. Celebrate the Host City. Feature elements of the host city’s culture within the exhibit hall to draw the attention of attendees. The Joint Statistical Meetings 2015 event planners created a 30 square foot space in the back of the hall that resembled the Seattle cityscape. Several sponsorships were offered, and the selected companies received incredible exposure.
