5 Tips For Drafting a Good Tweet for Your Trade Show

Condensing thoughts into 140 characters is tough, especially if you are trying to communicate information about your upcoming trade show. Twitter users that follow hundreds or thousands of account can often overlook important information. To prevent, include as much valuable information about your event or trade show as possible in every tweet. Nishita Jain, Director of Digital Marketing for A2z, Inc. suggests using the five W’s (Who, what, when, where, why) to help you communicate properly with your Twitter followers.

  • Audience is extremely important. All topics you tweet about may not be suited for your entire audience. If you wish to engage with a limited audience, include specific twitter handles. Hashtags are also a great way to help identify with a specific audience. Hashtagging links you to others that are interested in that same topic or keyword.
  • Don’t waste characters on unnecessary information. The main topic you are trying to communicate should be addressed immediately. Include reference links to your website and event registration. Tweets with links to videos and photos are more likely to grab attention.
  • Perhaps the most important W of all. Dates and deadlines for your trade show should always be included in your tweets. Messages that require your audience to take action are more likely to be clicked, retweeted, and/or replied to.
  • Assume your Twitter followers don’t know much about your trade show is a great approach to provide the right information to locate you at your upcoming event – tweet the venue’s address, your booth number and general location of your booth. Help event attendees find you easily.
  • This is the best opportunity to get your followers to engage with your content. If you are promoting a contest, you must include the prize. People are more likely to engage when there is an incentive.
