CES2016 Breaks its Own Show Floor Record

This year’s Consumer Electronics Show broke its own record from last year. The CES 2016 show floor spanned a massive 2.47 million square feet, an increase from last year’s 2.2 million. The event sprawled across the Las Vegas Convention Center, Sands Expo & Convention Center, and the Venetian, Wynn, Cosmopolitan, Aria, and Vdara hotels.

The Consumer Technology Association owns and produces CES, the world’s largest technology show, which took place on January 6-9. For the first time, attendance was capped at 176,000 and actual attendance was well over 170,000. Karen Chupka, Senior Vice President of CES, said, “It’s been very successful. Things have been moving pretty smoothly.”

Excitement at the event was at an all-time high. From virtual reality to drones powerful enough to lift people, CES brought forth a new wave of technological innovation. Industries such as automotive electronics, 3D printing, cyber security, and sports technology experienced significant growth from last year.

The show was also a huge success on social media channels. The #CES2016 hashtag was mentioned over 12 million times, resulting in over 15.2 billion total impressions.
