How to Choose the Best Trade Show

Trade show participation is a great method to help you achieve multiple business goals. You can generate leads, promote products, build brand awareness, gain exposure, and so much more. The initial challenge is selecting an event that’s a good fit for your company.

There are two main categories of trade shows: consumer and trade only. Consumer shows help you reach customers directly and should be considered if your main goal is to make sales. Trade only shows are geared towards networking and brand promotion. Buyers, planners, and media executives are usually in attendance. TradeShowMarketing.com has compiled a list of factors to consider when choosing a trade show.

  1. Audience. Contact the show producers and inquire about attendance from previous years. It’s also helpful to research how and where the trade show will be advertised to get a better idea of the audience demographics.
  2. History. Consider how long the show has been active, how many events it has produced, and what companies have exhibited there before.
  3. Perks. Look out for additions such as private seminars, networking events, or pre and post-show activities that may be beneficial to your exhibit.
  4. Competition. Always be aware of what other companies will be in attendance. Do a bit of background research to see if any of your competitors have attended previously, or if they are declining participation this year.
