The location of your trade show has a big impact on its “green factor.” Many convention centers are streamlining recycling and reducing water usage, while green construction processes are making complexes more green overall.

In an article in Trade Show News Network, Shane Shirley, Trade Show Expert identifies the Top Ten Green Venues in the United States to help you find and environmentally friendly location for your next trade show.

Here are five of the 10 locations described by Shirley:

1. Raleigh Convention Center: Silver LEED Certification, an optimized HVAC system and water-reduction measures.
2. Los Angeles Convention Center: certification in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Buildings (LEED-EB) from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
3. Colorado Convention Center: ASTM Environmentally Sustainable Meetings, Events, Trade Shows and Conferences (E2774-11) Certification, utilizes alternate sources of energy and reduced waste and water consumption.
4. Minneapolis Convention Center: level one certification for the ASTM standard pertaining to the evaluation and selection of venues for environmentally sustainable events, and rapidly working to reduce energy and water consumption.
5. Austin Convention Center: Gold LEED Certification and an active Energy Star Partner with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy.

An ideal venue should be centrally located, easily accessible for travelers and close to hotels, restaurants and public transportation.
