Using Hashtags at Trade Shows

By now you have probably seen hashtags used on social media. Almost all social networking sites have incorporated the hashtag feature. Anything can become searchable by simply placing a hashtag in front of a word or phrase. Hashtags are also a great way to see what people are saying about your brand and what’s happening at the trade show.

In Jenna Cooper’s recent article, “Using Hashtags at Trade Shows,” she provides tips on how to leverage hashtags at  your next trade show.

Jenna’s Five ways to Use Hashtags at a Trade Show

  1. Before The Show. Using hashtags to tell attendees what they can expect from your exhibit. Be sure to include the trade show’s main hashtag to create awareness to those unfamiliar with your brand.
  2. During The Show. Generate conversation by posting videos and photos containing your hashtag during the event. Associating content with your company and the event could cause it to go viral. Don’t forget to include your booth number so attendees can easily find you.
  3. Create Your Own Hashtag & Host A Contest. Hashtags should be fun. Generate engagement by creating a unique hashtag for giveaways and contests. Remember, people like free stuff use it to your advantage!
  4. Show It Off. Create signage with your hashtag on it. Be sure to encourage everyone who stops by your booth as well as your staff to use the hashtag when posting on their social media accounts.
  5. After The Show. Review your posts like you review potential leads. You can gain valuable insight as to what consumers thought of your products and exhibit at the event. Remember to follow up with potential leads via social media.

Hashtags are a smart, cost effective tool to promote your products and brand. They are also a great way to get feedback about your products at the show. Leverage  Jenna’s hashtag tips to increase your social media presence at a trade show.
